Secure Password Guidelines
When creating a new password for your Online Store admin account, following these guidelines will help ensure your store remains secure:
Strong Password Characteristics
- Length: Use at least 12 characters; longer passwords are generally more secure
- Complexity: Include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters
- Uniqueness: Create a password that you don't use for any other accounts
- Unpredictability: Avoid obvious patterns or sequences (like "123456" or "qwerty")
- Personal Information: Avoid using easily guessable information like birthdays, names, or common words
Password Management Best Practices
- Regular Updates: Change your password periodically (every 3-6 months)
- Password Manager: Consider using a reputable password manager to securely store your credentials
- Two-Factor Authentication: Enable two-factor authentication when available for an additional layer of security
- Secure Sharing: If you need to share access with team members, use proper staff accounts instead of sharing your admin password
What to Do If You Forget Your Password
If you've forgotten your password and cannot access your eCommerce admin panel:
- Go to the login page
- Click on the "Forgot Password?" link
- Enter the email address associated with your account
- Check your email for password reset instructions
- Follow the link in the email to create a new password
- Use your new password to log in
caution
The password reset link is typically valid for 24 hours. If you don't use it within that timeframe, you'll need to request a new one.
